Becoming a Mentor

The Importance of Mentorship

Mentors in our Circle of Friends program provide invaluable support and guidance to another person on their journey to improved well-being. They serve as a trusted confidant and friend, offering a safe space for open and honest discussions while offering insights, advice, and encouragement as they help to execute the Well-Being plan established in partnership with our Well-Being Coordinators.

By providing motivation and accountability they empower individuals to build self-confidence, inspire personal growth, foster personal success, and create a supportive foundation for long-term well-being helping others to reach their full potential.

What to Expect as a Mentor

Pairing mentors with mentees involves a thoughtful and strategic process to ensure a successful and productive relationship.

Through our intake process, The Friend Foundation will assess a potential mentor’s experience and skills that align with the mentee’s goals and needs. We’ll assess compatibility, looking for shared values, effective communication styles, and a good rapport.

Once a potential mentor-mentee pairing is identified, we’ll seek agreement from both parties to ensure that both the mentor and mentee are willing and committed to the mentoring relationship.

With the Well-Being Coordinator, you’ll review the Well-Being plan and align on goals, time commitment, frequency of meetings, responsibilities, boundaries, and the intended outcomes to avoid misunderstandings.

The Well-Being Coordinator will provide ongoing support and resources to mentors and mentees throughout the mentoring process. They’ll offer guidance on effective mentoring practices, access to training or development opportunities, and sharing of best practices.

We require and will facilitate regular check-ins with mentors and mentees to monitor progress, provide guidance, and address concerns. Open communication and feedback are required to strengthen the relationship.

Successful mentor-mentee pairings are built on mutual respect, trust, and effective communication. Regular evaluation and adjustment may be necessary to ensure the mentoring relationship continues to meet the mentor and mentee’s needs and goals.
